Work related injury and illness cost Australia an estimated $60.6 billion or a massive 4.8% of GDP in the 2008/9 financial year. More tragically, lives are lost every year – in 2010/11, there were 220 fatalities in the workforce.

While Australia’s fatality rate of 1.93 workers per 100,000 was the lowest on record, we need to constantly remind ourselves to improve on workplace safety in order to make Australia one of the safest places to work in the world.

Workplace Health and Safety requires constant effort and support from staff, managers, and even company directors.
