Replacing batteries
Loosen the slotted screw by turning it anticlockwise using a coin or appropriate tools. Remove the Battery cover.
Replace the old batteries with six new 1.5V Alkaline Batteries (LR06, AA) or rechargeable batteries. Please make sure that the batteries are inserted in the correct direction (follow the batteries diagram on the rear label).
Put the battery cover back into position, with the arrow facing upwards. Align the protrusion with the slot on the device and tighten the slotted screw by turning it clockwise using a coin or appropriate tools.
Battery safety information
- Do not disassemble the batteries
- Only replace with batteries of the same type. Never use different types of batteries together or combine used batteries with new ones.
- Replace all batteries at the same time. Do not continue re-using the old batteries.
- Keep batteries out of children's reach.
- Do not use manganese batteries.
- Do not attempt to recharge Alkaline batteries as this may cause an explosion.
- Do not insert the battery into the opposite electrode (refer to the diagram on the rear side label whenever replacing batteries).
- Please remove all the batteries if not using the device for a long time.
- If batteries show any sign of leakage, please remove them immediately and avoid contact with eyes or skin. If battery liquid comes in contact with any of these body parts, rinse the affected region with a sufficient amount of clean water and seek medical attention immediately.
Safety information
- Always use genuine Andatech parts and accessories. Using non-genuine parts and accessories for the device will not only risk providing inaccurate results, but may also damage the device.
- Calibrate and service the device hardware and software only with authorised Andatech service centres to avoid damage and voiding your product warranty.
- Wait at least 20 minutes after eating or drinking before testing. Alcohol remaining in the mouth, or even excess saliva, may interfere with testing. This includes alcohol-based mouthwash or similar products, which include any alcohol ingredient.
- Avoid testing in high wind or enclosed spaces. Poor ventilation may also lengthen the time required for warm up between tests.
- Do not blow smoke, saliva or other contaminants into the sampling hole, as the sensor may become damaged.
- Hold the device directly to the subject for accurate results. Other positions may not give you accurate results.
- Handle the device with care. Poor handling, physical impact, or electrical shock can cause premature device failures.
- Do not store the device in environments with extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, dirt and dust.
- Store the device beyond children’s reach.
- Any service in regard to the device should be performed by authorized service partners only.
Disclaimers
- This product must be used strictly in accordance with the instructions in this manual.
- This product is intended to provide the user with an indication of alcohol on the breath. However, neither the manufacturer nor the supplier gives any warranty (express or implied) that the product can give any indication of blood alcohol level.
- A person’s BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) can only be accurately measured by the administration of a blood test. This product only measures breath alcohol content which, in turn, only gives an approximate indication of blood alcohol concentration.
- In these circumstances the user of this product should not rely on the information provided thereby as an accurate indication of their blood alcohol concentration or of their level of intoxication or of their fitness to drive and in particular should not take any action in reliance on such information as the product can provide no more than an indication of alcohol on the breath.
- If the user of this product makes any decision or takes any action based on the use of the product such decision or such action shall be at the sole risk of the user and neither the manufacturer nor the supplier assumes any responsibility for such decision or action.
- In particular, neither the manufacturer nor the supplier shall be in any way liable if the user of the product asserts that the product led them to believe they were fit to operate a motor vehicle and are subsequently found not to be so fit.
Measurements & Conditions for Test
- Use a clean mouthpiece for each test.
- Do not allow samples containing smoke, tobacco or other chemical products to enter the unit, as damage to the fuel cell can occur.
- There must be an interval of at least 15 minutes after alcohol consumption as alcohol residue in the mouth may give a false reading. Such residue may also be left by aromatic drinks, mouthwash, medicines and drops, as well as by belching and vomiting. Rinsing your mouth with water or non-alcoholic drinks does not substitute for an interval.
- A person’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) can continue to rise for up to 2 hours after drinking alcohol. If a caution results or a result is close to the designated BAC, it is recommended to wait and retest after 20 minutes.
- It can take 10 hours or more for a person’s BAC to return to zero after a high BAC has been reached. A further test should be carried out later in the day or the following morning.
